Job description

An international technology business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to cover a maternity contract. Reporting to the CFO, this hands-on role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting operations. Key responsibilities include:

1. Submission of monthly Management Accounts for 4 business units to group head office
2. Control of month-end journal postings including WIP, prepayments, accruals, etc.
3. Control of Balance Sheet reconciliations
4. Production of monthly analysis reports
5. Intercompany balance reconciliation and repayment
6. Submission of VAT returns
7. Submission of month-end statutory accounts onto consolidation software
8. Management of half-year reviews and year-end statutory audits
9. Preparation of annual budgets with input from Business Unit Directors
10. Supervision, management, and mentoring of the finance team

Candidates should have previous experience in a similar role overseeing the finance function, capable of managing the day-to-day operations. An accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is preferred, along with strong IT skills, experience with Sage, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and high attention to detail are essential.
