  • Financial Controller required for Surrey based governing body
  • 6 month Fixed tern contract - ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified

About Our Client

I am pleased to be partnering with a leading Surrey based non profit governing body who are looking to recruit a Financial Controller on an initial 6 month basis.

Job Description

1. Management Information & Reporting

o Develop and maintain performance dashboards across finance and operational units for businesses

o Integrate rolling forecasts, cash flows, liquidity analysis, and KPI trackers into monthly reports.

o Automate MI workflows for speed, accuracy, and auditability

o Deliver strategic insights with layered commentary for executive and board stakeholders

2. Financial Planning & Control

o Lead budgeting, forecasting, and monthly variance analysis across departments and budget holders

o Align strategic plans with financial forecasts and working capital requirements

o Produce robust variance analysis

o Coordinate reforecasting cycles based on scenarios and business events

3. Centralised Procurement

o Lead the design and oversight of procurement systems and policies across entities

o Standardise spend thresholds, approval matrices, vendor selection, and payment terms

o Collaborate with legal, ops, and compliance teams to embed commercial safeguards and mitigate procurement risk

4. Treasury & Cashflow

o Oversee cash forecasting and covenant monitoring

o Embed treasury controls in procurement, contracting, and payment processes

5. Strategic Finance Support

o Provide financial support to the CFO on all project and investment appraisals

o Collaborate with commercial and legal teams

o Prepare financial analysis to support decision-making

o Oversee commercial reporting, margin analysis, and performance reviews

o Align financial oversight with pricing logic and contract economics

o Elevate insight generation and stakeholder engagement

6. Finance Projects

o Scope and deliver finance-led transformation projects including systems upgrades, automation, and compliance change

7. Finance Policies & Manuals

o Develop and maintain full set of finance policies

o Document standard operating procedures with controls and workflows

o Maintain version control and compliance alignment across finance

o Audit policies for effectiveness and regulatory readiness

8. Xero System & Reporting Enhancements

o Create custom reports in Xero and commentary tools for finance and BUs

o Build board-ready management reports with KPI visuals and variance analysis

o Segment data across projects and departments using tracking categories

o Ensure style and structure meet stakeholder clarity and audit standards

9. Finance Leadership

o Manage and mentor the Commercial Management Accountant

o Provide cover for transactional reporting

10. Internal Controls & Compliance

o Maintain a live finance risk register capturing mitigation and escalation triggers

o Link risks to documented procedures and control environments

o Escalate finance-related governance or compliance issues as appropriate

11. Board Reporting & Governance

o Produce MI packs including:

§ Executive Summary

§ Financial Dashboard

§ KPI Tracker with Commentary

§ Finance Risk Register

The Successful Applicant

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA (desirable)
  • Proven success in Financial Controller or senior finance roles
  • Expertise in dashboard reporting, financial/MI reporting and stakeholder communication
  • High level of proficiency in Excel, systems and processes
  • Proficiency in Xero (desirable), Power BI ( desirable); ERP system knowledge
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards, audit compliance, and finance policies
  • Able to implement changes quickly and effectively
  • Confident communicator and effective business partner across teams
  • Proactive, ambitious, and committed to continual improvement
  • Capable of leading and mentoring in cross-functional finance environments
