Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and consolidate financial statements.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain cash flow models.
  • Review payroll calculations for accuracy.
  • Prepare and submit VAT and other tax filings.
  • Prepare and coordinate production of statutory accounts.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests for insights.
  • Lead and support a small finance team.

We're seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Financial Controller to become a key part of our growing team at Fletters Group. In this pivotal role, you'll own financial control, reporting, and compliance, laying the foundation for scalable and sustainable growth.

This role reports directly to the Group CFO and supports strategic decision-making and financial leadership across the organization.

It's a hands-on leadership position involving day-to-day operations, assessing current capabilities, identifying gaps, and setting the stage for future transformation. You will build a high-performing team and lead a revamp of reporting processes to make them faster, more accurate, and insightful.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Production of Monthly Group Management Accounts and MI Packs:
    • Prepare and consolidate financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flows
    • Work with FP&A to prepare management information packs with key metrics, variance analysis, and commentary for banking partners
  2. Balance Sheet Reconciliations:
    • Conduct regular reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and integrity
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances
  3. Cash Flow Forecasting:
    • Develop and maintain cash flow models for accurate projections
    • Monitor performance and recommend optimizations
  4. Payroll and Bonus Accruals:
    • Review and verify payroll calculations for accuracy and compliance
    • Maintain monthly bonus accruals
  5. Tax Reporting:
    • Prepare and submit VAT, CT, P11d, and other tax filings timely and accurately
    • Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations
  6. Annual Statutory Accounts & Companies House Filing:
    • Prepare and coordinate production of statutory accounts
    • Liaise with external auditors and ensure timely filings
  7. Data, Analysis, and Insights:
    • Respond to ad-hoc data requests, providing meaningful insights for decision-making
  8. Management Responsibilities:
    • Lead and support a small finance team
    • Provide guidance and mentorship for professional development

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
  • Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Experience in the Legal sector
