An established and growing facilities management business is seeking a technically proficient and commercially astute
Financial Controller to lead on financial governance, controls, and compliance across a complex and expanding £800m+ operation. This senior leadership role, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, will be responsible for statutory reporting, treasury management, tax compliance, and adherence to IFRS throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) function and manage the relationship with the offshore transactional finance provider.
- Deliver accurate and timely statutory accounts and oversee the annual audit process.
- Ensure compliance with Companies House, HMRC, and other regulatory bodies.
- Manage all tax matters including Corporation Tax, VAT, and CIS.
- Oversee treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting, supplier payments, and banking relationships.
- Maintain a compliant and auditable fixed asset register, ensuring appropriate capitalisation and depreciation.
- Act as custodian of the balance sheet, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timely resolution of issues.
- Provide technical accounting guidance for new business, bids, and strategic developments.
- Prepare technical papers to support audit readiness and maintain full compliance with IFRS.
- Support accurate monthly and year-end reporting, ensuring alignment with ledger data.
- Oversee the treatment of mobilisation costs and ensure consistent cost management practices.
- Work closely with Finance Business Partners to promote a culture of strong financial control and best practice.
Candidate Requirements- Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and UK statutory reporting.
- Proven experience in treasury, tax compliance, and audit management.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with SAP is desirable.
- Strong understanding of P2P processes and financial controls.
- Experience managing remote teams and third-party service providers.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and constructively challenge across the business.
