This isn't just another Financial Controller role. This is your opportunity to lead change, drive automation, and shape the future of finance for a dynamic and evolving UK private equity-backed group. If you're a powerhouse in finance transformation, laser-focused on compliance, and thrive in fast-paced, people-first environments, then this could be the right role for you.

The Role

As UK Financial Controller, you'll be the heartbeat of our client finance function (team of circa 8 people), steering the business through a period of transformation with confidence and clarity. This is a strategic leadership role, where finance meets innovation, and traditional processes are reimagined through automation.

The successful candidate will have full ownership of UK finance operations, ensuring financial rigor, statutory compliance, and timely reporting, while helping to create and shape a finance function built for future growth.

Responsibilities of the Role

  1. Lead & Inspire: Oversee the UK finance function, instill best practices, whilst managing the day-to-day finance team and striving for excellence in their tasks.
  2. Transform & Automate: Implement automation to reduce transactional reliance, maintaining robust controls.
  3. Drive Financial Reporting: Own management accounts, statutory filings, and UK GAAP compliance.
  4. Optimise Systems: Champion SAP and lead system enhancements for better control and workflows.
  5. Cashflow Confidence: Manage treasury, forecasting, and liquidity.
  6. Partner with Purpose: Collaborate with senior leaders to drive commercial growth and financial agility.
  7. Compliance & Controls: Ensure financial integrity, from VAT to payroll taxes.
  8. Modelling Mastery: Use advanced Excel skills to support strategic decisions for the Senior Leadership Team.

Who My Client Is Looking For

The successful candidate will be a finance leader who thrives on complexity, solves problems proactively, and drives change. You will be highly driven, ambitious, and embrace innovation.

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager
  • Track record in finance transformation, especially automation
  • Deep understanding of financial risk and compliance (HMRC, VAT, Corp Tax, etc.)
  • SAP experience is a big plus, but other ERP exposure is also desirable
  • Confident communicator, natural business partner and leader
  • Hands-on, proactive, and performance-driven

Why Join my client?

This role offers the chance to lead change in a business investing in its people, platforms, and potential. You will have autonomy and support from a forward-thinking Group Finance Director and ambitious leadership team.

  • Healthcare cash plan
  • Volunteering Day
  • 37.5-hour workweek: Monday to Friday 9-5, with early finish on Fridays
