Job Opportunity: Financial Controller

Trial Balance Consulting is pleased to present an exclusive opportunity with a well-established manufacturing business known for its diverse product range and impressive client portfolio across Europe, North America, and Asia. Due to sustained growth, the company seeks to appoint an experienced Financial Controller at its UK headquarters in Torbay. This full-time, permanent role offers a path to board-level responsibilities, leading financial controls across European divisions.

The successful candidate will work closely with a global CFO and support a team of four, engaging across all business areas. The role demands a commercially driven, technologically savvy individual passionate about developing robust, future-proof financial controls. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing the business's current financial health and strategic planning
  2. Mentoring and developing a small finance team
  3. Producing management information with comprehensive commentary for senior management
  4. Reporting statutory accounts
  5. Creating cash flow forecasts and budgets
  6. Collaborating with the CFO on business strategy and financial support
  7. Implementing digital systems and processes for growth
  8. Leading cash flow management and budget setting
  9. Building relationships with external stakeholders, customers, and suppliers
  10. Conducting project and materials costing analysis
  11. Managing external accountants and leading annual audits

Ideal candidates will be professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with recent experience managing end-to-end accounting functions in a growing business, preferably within manufacturing or engineering sectors. Experience managing and developing small finance teams, multi-currency transactional experience, and strategic business growth aptitude are highly desirable. While initially focused on finance operations, strategic thinking and growth mindset are essential for success in this role.
