Sheridan Maine is working exclusively with a leading client on the outskirts of Bournemouth to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to join their business.

As Financial Controller within this group of companies, you will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic insights across the group.

We are seeking someone who is keen to find a role where they can have longevity and develop in the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic, evolving environment supporting the development of financial processes and systems. You must also be a good communicator and capable of managing others' work.

Key responsibilities of the Financial Controller:

  • Managing a small team and overseeing all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Coordinating and directing the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assisting in managing group company accounting personnel activities and performance.
  • Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.
  • Identifying and managing financial risks through risk management strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Researching technical accounting issues to maintain compliance.
  • Providing technical/expert support to others as needed.
  • Adapting to the organisation’s evolving needs by taking on additional controller duties as necessary.

Experience and Skills:

  • Qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA accountant.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and as a team leader.
  • At least 5 years of combined accounting and finance experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience in creating financial statements and managing general ledger functions.
  • Proficiency in accounting software usage and administration.
