Job summary

Lyons Recruitment is seeking a highly organized finance professional to run monthly management accounts, cashflow planning, VAT and CIS reporting for an SME serving architectural, landscaping and construction sectors.

You will oversee payroll processing, P&L with variance analysis, and supervise a Finance Assistant while ensuring UK accounting standards and HMRC obligations are met. Part-time 24h weekly, parking on site in LS21, great for work‑life balance.

Qualifications

• Qualified by Experience or Part-qualified/ACCA/ACA/CIMA.
• Experience in SME environments with broad accounting duties.
• Experience handling multi-company accounts or multiple entities.
• Knowledge of VAT schemes and HMRC compliance.
• Proficient with Sage 50 and CIS payroll processes.

Responsibilities

• Produce Monthly Management Accounts.
• Prepare cashflow projections and monitor working capital.
• Perform P&L with variance analysis.
• Submit VAT returns to HMRC under various schemes.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable and billing.
• Supervise a Finance Assistant.
• Prepare monthly payroll and check timecards.
• Handle bank reconciliations and journals.
• Complete CIS and file with HMRC.

The Business & Opportunity:

Operating across the Architectural, Landscaping and Construction sectors, our client has made impressive year on year growth and are continuing to expand into new markets.

Your Remit:

• Producing Monthly Management Accounts.
• Cashflow projections, monitoring working capital and ensuring financial resilience.
• Profit & Loss with Variance Analysis.
• VAT submissions to HMRC, involving different schemes.
• Managing the accounts payable receivable and billing activities.
• Supervising a Finance Assistant.
• Preparing monthly and fortnightly payroll, checking timecards to submit for external processing.
• Ensuring adherence to UK Accounting standards, tax rules and statutory obligations.
• Bank reconciliations and journals.
• CIS Completion and filing with HMRC.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Qualified by Experience or Part-qualified/Qualified AAT/ACCA/ACA/CIMA.
• Operated in an SME, at a similar level in an all-encompassing, varied role.
• Experience of handling multi-company accounts or businesses with several entities.
• A knowledge of different VAT schemes.
• Working knowledge of Sage 50, together with an understanding of CIS and Payroll.
• Highly organised, self-motivated, excellent communicator and a good eye for detail.

• Starting salary of £40,000 – £45,000
• Part-Time Hours (24 per week) to fit around you, e.g. 3 full days or shorter hours spread over 4 or 5 days.
