Job description

A well-established and successful Oxford-based company seeks a qualified accountant to join as FC.

Your new company
Our client is a well-established and successful privately owned medium-sized business.

Your new role
Reporting to the Group FD, the purpose of the Financial Controller is the provision of accurate, timely and reliable monthly management accounts, draft annual statutory accounts, cash forecasts and other management information as and when required, as well as ensuring that finance supports and integrates with operational and commercial functions.

Specifically, you will take responsibility for a small finance team and the development of the company's financial systems and troubleshooting support for its users, system testing as part of upgrades to the finance system and compliance changes and production of monthly management accounts in accordance with the timetable. You will also produce draft statutory accounts complete with supporting schedules and liaise with auditors to ensure the year-end process is completed as efficiently as possible. Preparation and submission of monthly VAT returns, preparing and monitoring daily and weekly cash forecasts, keeping bank reconciliations up to date are all integral to the role.

As Financial Controller you will prepare reports for monthly commercial meetings, manage forecasting and budgeting processes and ensure sales invoices are raised in a timely manner.

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with excellent skills in IT relating to the operation and understanding of accounting systems, as well as demonstrable experience of developing management reporting systems and processes. You will have the ability to build relationships on a cross-functional basis, as well as manage a small team within finance. Commercial awareness, with an ability to manage detail, is required, as well as a high level of drive and determination.
