Job summary

Goodman Masson is recruiting for a Financial Controller in the construction sector, based in Northampton. You will head a small finance team of three, own day-to-day accounting for the group, and support rapid growth.

Key duties include monthly management accounts, budgets, cash flow, VAT, audits, payroll, tax planning, and continuous improvement of the finance function. This is a hands-on leadership role with significant scope for progression.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant
• Experience within the construction or property development sector with CIS knowledge desirable
• Confident in producing management accounts and managing a small team.

Responsibilities

• Compile monthly management accounts for group of companies with detailed variance analysis.
• Produce annual budgets and contribute to financial planning.
• Produce cash flow and financial forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
• Prepare monthly VAT returns across the group.
• Lead and facilitate the external audit process and year-end accounts.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll process to ensure accuracy.
• Identify tax-efficiency opportunities and maximise available reliefs.
• Lead modernisation and continuous improvement of the finance function.
• Provide financial insight and commercial support during growth.

Financial Controller | Construction | £80-100k | Northampton Based - 4 days in the office.

Working for a growing construction and civil engineering company you will be number one in finance, responsible for a team of 3, this is a hands on role managing day to day finance responsibilities for the group, and support with their rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Compile monthly management accounts for group of companies, producing detailed variance analysis to support
• Responsible for producing annual budgets
• Produce cash flow and financial forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
• Prepare monthly VAT returns across the group.
• Lead and facilitate the external audit process, ensuring the timely completion and submission of annual accounts.
• Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
• Identify and implement tax-efficiency opportunities, maximising available tax reliefs and investment opportunities.
• Take a lead role in the modernisation and continuous improvement of the finance function.
• Provide financial insight and commercial support as the business continues through its current growth plan.
