Job description

Axon Moore are working with a leading Travel Business based in South Manchester (hybrid) who are looking for an interim Financial Controller for a period of 6 to 9 months on a part time basis, 3 days per week.

As Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in managing the company's financial operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance. We are looking for a very hands-on individual who is happy to oversee and mentor the team, plus be very hands-on and create and implement new robust policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage all company accounts and investments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
2. Prepare Group monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
3. Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports.
4. Supervise and manage the financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants.
5. Lead and mentor finance team members, providing guidance and feedback to ensure efficient performance.
6. Develop and implement updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing processes.
7. Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded, filed, and reported in accordance with regulatory standards.
8. Develop and enforce internal controls to maximise protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
9. Coordinate with external auditors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
10. Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and ensure the company adheres to all financial legal standards and guidelines.
11. Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts and report variances.
12. Analyse financial data and provide insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
13. Manage and comply with HMRC reporting requirements and tax filings.

Person Specification:

1. ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification.
2. Experienced Financial Controller.
3. Experienced in a high growth, acquisitive group structure.
4. Ideally experienced in the Travel industry or other highly regulated industries.
5. Strong knowledge of UK regulatory requirements and industry standards.
6. Proficient in accounting software and financial management systems - preferably SAGE.
7. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
8. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
9. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
