Financial Controller

Are you a qualified finance professional with a passion for process improvement, reporting accuracy, and team leadership? Our client is looking for a Finance Controller to join a growing team; you will ensure robust financial controls, timely reporting, and continuous improvement across the finance function.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will be key in strengthening the month-end processes, overseeing the AR/AP teams, and supporting the delivery of accurate and insightful reporting. You will contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and year-end audit preparation while enhancing the financial systems and standards compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate monthly reporting packs (P&L, balance sheet) for review
• Lead and mentor the AR/AP and Credit Control teams, ensuring high performance and accountability
• Oversee all accruals, prepayments, and bad debt provisions
• Conduct intercompany reconciliations and manage group-wide compliance on new processes
• Ensure accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare VAT returns, royalty, and co-branding income reports
• Manage loan postings and FX revaluations within SAP
• Play a key role in the annual audit process, including preparing disclosures and liaising with auditors
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts
• Draft quarterly board packs and support implementation of new accounting standards (e.g. revenue recognition, leasing)
• Continuously enhance the reporting pack in collaboration with the Head of Finance

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• ACA/ACCA qualified accountant
• Proven experience in a financial reporting role
• Strong understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS
• Confident working with external auditors and senior stakeholders

Desirable:

• Experience with SAP B1 or similar ERP systems
• Exposure to system implementation and process change management
• Knowledge of taxation and tax reporting
• Power BI modelling or experience with other reporting tools
