Job Title: Financial Controller
Contract Type: Interim
Pay: £300 PAYE
Hybrid Working: 3 days in Office, 2 days from Home
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee all financial operations. This role is pivotal in financial planning, reporting, cost control, compliance, and strategic financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Manage daily operations of the finance and accounting department
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee cash flow, forecasting, and working capital
- Ensure compliance with FRS101 and internal accounting policies
Job Costing & Project Accounting
- Implement and maintain job costing systems to monitor project profitability
- Collaborate with project managers to track costs, billing, and margins
- Review and approve project budgets and financial change orders
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and mid-year reforecasting processes
- Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis for strategic planning
- Support department heads with financial insights and cost control
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to tax regulations, audits, and industry-specific standards
- Liaise with external auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies
- Strengthen internal controls and financial procedures
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff (e.g., AR/AP clerks, accountants)
- Evaluate and improve accounting systems and software tools
- Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
Required:
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA)
- 5+ years of progressive finance experience, including 2+ years in a senior role
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and project accounting
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills
