A growing UK SME in the manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead their financial operations. This senior position will involve preparing financial statements, managing finance operations, and closely advising on production costs. As part of a small leadership team, you will make a significant impact on the business. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong expertise in IFRS and UKGAAP, as well as proficiency in Excel and financial systems. The position will be based on-site near St Leonards.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily finance operations including accounting, payroll, purchasing, and stock control.
• Lead month-end closing processes.
• Prepare statutory financial statements.
• Deliver accurate budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Handle tax submissions with external advisors.
• Manage cashflow and payment processes.
• Support operational teams with costing and project financial analysis.
• Liaise with auditors, consultants, and financial service providers.

Job description

Financial Controller, Hastings, St Leonards.

We are looking for an experienced Finance Controller / Senior Finance professional to lead financial operations of a well-established and growing UK SME business.

• Excellent opportunity to work within a senior finance position for an SME manufacturing business. You will report directly into the MD and will be part of a small senior leadership team – you will make a massive impact and see the tangible effects of the work you do!

• Salary and package level will be dependent on experience, we suspect £55,000 - £70,000 as a very rough guideline but this is still to be defined.

• The role will be based on site near St Leonards in the South of England

This Finance Controller is responsible for all financial management and reporting.You will also work closely with the Operations Director & Commercial Director, to advise on production & manufacturing costs as well as advice on spending & return on investment analysis.

Your background as a Financial Controller:

• Qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) preferred.

• Proven experience in a similar Financial Controller / Finance Controller / Finance Manager / Head of Finance role.

• Strong knowledge of IFRS, UKGAAP, and financial regulations.

• Advanced Excel and financial systems experience

• Confident communicator, team leader, and self-starter.

• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
