Job summary

Vector Recruitment Solutions Ltd in East Sussex is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead the full finance operation for a growing infrastructure business. You'll oversee month-end, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and a developing finance team, working closely with senior management and operational teams on projects across infrastructure.

ACA/ACCA/CIMA desirable; strong Excel and ERP skills are essential.

Financial Controller - Infrastructure Business

East Sussex | Permanent | Full-Time

We are recruiting for an experienced Financial Controller to join an established and growing infrastructure business based in East Sussex.

This is a key role within the finance function, offering an experienced Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Senior Management Accountant the opportunity to take ownership of the full finance operation and work closely with senior management.

You will be responsible for month-end, management accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and team management, while providing valuable commercial insight to support the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full month-end and management accounts process
• Prepare accurate monthly financial and management reports
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
• Manage cashflow forecasting and working capital
• Analyse financial performance, costs, margins and variances
• Maintain robust financial controls and balance sheet reconciliations
• Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control
• Manage, support and develop the finance team
• Provide commercial financial analysis to senior management
• Work closely with operational teams across infrastructure projects
• Monitor project costs, profitability and financial performance
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors and professional advisers
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and controls

About You

We're looking for a hands-on and commercially minded Financial Controller who can take ownership and hit the ground running.

You’ll ideally have:

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Senior Management Accountant
• Strong month-end, management accounts and financial reporting experience
• Experience with budgets, forecasting and cashflow management
• Previous responsibility for managing or developing a finance team
• Strong Excel and financial systems knowledge
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Experience working within infrastructure, construction, civil engineering, utilities, engineering or another project-based business
• The ability to work confidently with senior management and operational teams
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified/part-qualified is desirable, although strong relevant experience will be considered
