Job summary

Talentedge is partnering with a high-growth consumer marketplace to appoint a hands-on Financial Controller. You will own the core finance function, drive month-end close, and deliver insightful reporting to the CFO and leadership team.

You will build strong controls, lead budgeting/forecasting, and partner with commercial/operational teams to enable data-driven decisions as the business scales in the UK and beyond.

Qualifications

• Strong Financial Controller or Finance Manager experience
• Experience in a marketplace/high-growth business
• Strong technical accounting and financial control foundations
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• Experience improving processes and structure in scaling finance
• Commercially minded with ability to understand operational drivers
• Marketplace experience with transactions, payments, commissions or multi-sided revenue

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly management accounts and month-end close process
• Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to the CFO and leadership team
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning
• Maintain a robust financial control environment as the business scales
• Manage balance-sheet reconciliations, working capital and cash management
• Support statutory reporting, audit, tax and compliance requirements
• Develop reporting around marketplace economics (revenue, take rate, contribution margin)
• Partner with commercial/operational teams to improve visibility and decision-making
• Improve and automate finance processes, systems and reporting
• Support the CFO with Board and investor reporting
• Help build a finance function capable of supporting UK and international growth

Talentedge are partnering with a high‑growth consumer marketplace to appoint a Financial Controller into a broad, commercially exposed role.

The business has scaled rapidly, building a multi‑sided platform connecting thousands of customers and partners. As the company enters its next phase of growth, they are looking for a hands‑on Financial Controller to strengthen the finance infrastructure, improve reporting and controls, and provide greater visibility across the business.

Reporting directly into the CFO, you will take ownership of the core finance function while working closely with senior leadership across operations, commercial and product.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Owning the monthly management accounts and month‑end close process
• Delivering accurate and timely financial reporting to the CFO and leadership team
• Managing budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow planning
• Maintaining a robust financial control environment as the business scales
• Managing balance‑sheet reconciliations, working capital and cash management
• Supporting statutory reporting, audit, tax and compliance requirements
• Developing reporting around marketplace economics, including revenue, take rate, contribution margin and customer/partner performance
• Partnering with commercial and operational teams to improve financial visibility and decision‑making
• Improving and automating finance processes, systems and reporting
• Supporting the CFO with Board and investor reporting
• Helping build a finance function capable of supporting continued UK and international growth

We are looking for:

• Strong Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar experience
• Experience within a marketplace, consumer tech, e-commerce, platform or other high‑growth business
• Strong technical accounting and financial control foundations
• Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
• Experience improving processes and introducing greater structure into a scaling finance function
• Commercially minded, with the ability to understand the operational drivers behind the numbers
• Marketplace experience would be particularly valuable, including exposure to transaction volumes, payments, commissions or multi‑sided revenue models
