Job Description

We are seeking a Financial Controller to join our client's expanding and dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in costing, financial analysis, and manufacturing environments.

You will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires strong leadership abilities and a deep understanding of financial management principles.

Full time, permanent role.

Salary dependent on experience.

Financial Controller - The Role:
Management:
  • Be a key member of the Senior Leadership team, working closely with the MD, Senior Managers of the parent company, and the site management team on both strategic and operational issues.
  • Lead the Finance team, recruiting, managing, appraising, and training direct reports.
  • Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices through a culture of continuous improvement, effective leadership, and communication.
  • Manage finance and general management-related project work of varied content and complexity from start to completion.
Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Accounts:
  • Responsible for the preparation and review of monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for submission to the parent company, and analyze variances monthly.
  • Upload financial information and detailed narrative on results to the parent company’s ERP system, ensuring compliance with filing deadlines.
  • Monitor and review cash flow and cashbook activities, take appropriate actions, and report to the MD and parent company.
  • Oversee all transactional finance activities such as purchase ledger, sales ledger, and credit control, ensuring proper recording, filing, and reporting of all financial transactions.
Reporting and Analysis:
  • Provide detailed analysis of customer product sales, margins, and other financial data periodically, highlighting financial trends.
  • Review financial plans and budgets regularly to identify gross margin and operating profit improvements.
Financial Controller - The Candidate:
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAEW/CIMA/ACCA) (Essential)
  • Extensive experience in a finance role up to Financial Controller level, in a manufacturing environment. (Essential)
  • Manufacturing Costing Analyst Experience (Essential)
  • Good understanding of Inter-Co pricing structures (Desirable)
  • Good understanding of financial and taxation reporting requirements. (Essential)
  • Extensive experience managing budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and capex requests (Essential)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills (Essential)
  • Experience with computerised finance or ERP systems (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management (“HFM”) software or similar (or willingness to learn). (Desirable)
  • Experience leading, managing, and developing staff (Essential)
  • Strong presentation skills for internal and external audiences (Essential)
