Job description

As a Finance Controller, you will manage the daily income and expenses of the hotel, prepare monthly management reports, and support the hotel management team.

Please note the salary for the role is up to £35k a year DOE.

What will I be doing?
  • Daily income/payments verification & reconciliation
  • Management Reporting & Forecasting
  • Supporting the General Manager & Heads of Department with the annual budget & quarterly/weekly reforecasts
  • Facilitating roster reviews and wages control with department Heads
  • Processing supplier invoices & assisting with departmental cost controls
  • Checking agents' commissions against HMS Infor & approving invoices
  • Managing bank deposits & petty cash control
  • Reconciling credit card payments & investigating disputes
  • Performing month-end processes & reconciliations, including stock count validation
  • Completing & reviewing Monthly Management Accounts
  • Analyzing budget drivers to provide insights on variances
  • Providing adhoc reports/analysis for business support
  • Training operational teams on finance systems
  • Supporting finance functions at other properties as needed

This role supports both local management and central finance by ensuring accurate financial records and contributing to overall financial management of the hotel.

What are we looking for?
  • Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance advantageous, or experience in a similar hospitality role
  • Understanding of accounting principles and maintaining financial records
  • Knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Sage) and proficiency in Excel for budgeting, forecasting, and data analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Aptitude for identifying discrepancies and proposing solutions
  • Understanding of confidentiality in handling financial data
