Finance Controller

Doncaster (with occasional travel)

The Opportunity

As Finance Controller, you’ll work closely with the Managing Director to lead the finance function, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting and playing a key role in driving strategic and operational decisions. You’ll manage all core financial processes, from monthly board reporting and cash flow forecasting to budgeting, audits, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and present accurate monthly board packs and management accounts
• Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Oversee budget setting and quarterly reforecasts
• Support the reconciliation of sales and accounting systems
• Ensure timely and accurate HMRC submissions
• Lead on year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
• Drive improvements in financial controls and reporting processes
• Provide effective leadership across the finance team and the wider business

About You

We’re looking for a confident and technically strong accountant with experience in a hands-on SME environment. You’ll be comfortable operating at both a strategic and transactional level, with excellent communication skills and a keen eye for continuous improvement.

You will ideally offer:

• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification (or QBE with demonstrable experience)
• Strong technical accounting and Excel skills
• Proven experience managing a finance function end-to-end
• Sage experience and comfort working across multiple systems
• The ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders
