Job summary

Aberdeen plc, based in Edinburgh, is seeking a Financial Controller to manage financial governance, reporting and statutory accounts for Luxembourg entities. You will work with Luxembourg-based teams, auditors and advisers to ensure high-quality reporting and robust controls.

The role requires a Qualified Accountant with IFRS/GAAP knowledge, strong Excel skills, and experience with financial systems such as Oracle.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA or equivalent) with experience in financial control, financial reporting or commercial finance within financial services.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Excellent analytical skills with advanced Excel capability and confidence working with financial systems such as Oracle.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
• Audit background (desirable)
• French language skills (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly journals, financial reporting packs, accounting workpapers and management commentary for Luxembourg legal entities.
• Deliver statutory accounts, regulatory returns, board reporting materials and audit support within agreed deadlines.
• Review and challenge legal entity P&L and balance sheet information, ensuring financial integrity, accuracy and robust controls.
• Partner with Tax, Finance Operations and external service providers to support compliance, transfer pricing and risk management activities.
• Contribute to budgeting, profitability analysis and process improvement initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of the finance function.
• Build strong relationships across EMEA finance teams and support ad hoc projects and business priorities.
