Job description

- Preston (5 days to start, Hybrid/Flex thereafter)

Build the finance function of a business set to quadruple in size over the next 12 months.

Axon Moore is exclusively retained by a rapidly scaling, pre-Private Equity Healthcare Infrastructure business to recruit its first senior finance hire.

The business is currently experiencing exceptional growth and is forecast to increase revenues by 4x over the next 12 months, reaching £10m+ revenue per month due to its niche offering within the market and lucrative contracts. As a result, this is far more than a traditional Financial Controller opportunity.

This is a chance to join at the ground floor of a major growth phase, working directly alongside the Managing Director to build the finance infrastructure, controls, reporting and team required to support the next stage of the company's evolution.

Initially, the role will be highly hands-on. You'll take ownership of day-to-day finance operations, supplier management, payment controls, month-end reporting and cash visibility. However, as the business scales, the role will naturally develop into a broader leadership position with responsibility for building a finance team and creating a function capable of supporting a significantly larger organisation.

For ambitious finance professionals, opportunities to join a business at this stage are rare. The successful candidate will have the chance to shape how finance operates, influence key business decisions and grow their own role alongside the company's expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function.
  • Build scalable controls, reporting frameworks and finance infrastructure.
  • Develop cash visibility and short-term cashflow forecasting.
  • Lead month-end processes and management accounts review.
  • Produce operational finance reporting and margin analysis.
  • Drive process improvements, automation and systems development.
  • Manage accounts payable, supplier relationships and payment controls.
  • Oversee supplier reconciliations, rebates, credit notes and commercial terms.
  • Establish stock and inventory controls.
  • Partner closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team as the business grows.

The Ideal Candidate will likely have experience within a high-growth SME within an operationally focused environment and be comfortable rolling your sleeves up whilst creating the foundations for future growth.

The Client requires:
  • A 'builder' rather than a 'maintainer'
  • Experience building finance processes, controls or reporting capability from a low base.
  • Strong ownership of AP, supplier management and month-end processes.
  • Experience within stock, inventory, or operationally complex environments.
  • A systems and automation mindset.
  • The ambition to grow with a business rather than simply inherit a mature finance function.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys building, improving and scaling businesses and wants to be part of an exciting growth journey from an early stage.
