Business Director at Accountable Recruitment

Accountable Recruitment is delighted to be working with a leading distribution business based in Chester to recruit an experienced Financial Controller. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead a small team, drive business strategy, and partner across the organization.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide strategic financial input to the Finance Director.
2. Drive efficiencies, manage projects, and identify cost implications and improvement opportunities.
3. Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for financial oversight.
4. Conduct detailed scenario modelling to evaluate impacts of operational changes, productivity initiatives, and cost structures.
5. Monitor depot financials weekly, analyze variances, and highlight areas needing attention.
6. Collaborate with depot managers on budgets and forecasts, ensuring financial alignment.
7. Play a key role in depot performance assessments, providing insights to optimize costs and efficiencies.
8. Contribute to short-term and long-term financial outlooks, considering operational trends and market conditions.
9. Identify risks and opportunities, ensuring thorough assessment aligned with budgets and forecasts.
10. Partner with non-finance stakeholders across the business.

Qualifications & Skills:

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
• Proven leadership experience managing a finance team.
• Experience in logistics and distribution industries.
• Strong commercial and analytical mindset, capable of challenging data and providing actionable insights.
• Ability to present complex financial data to senior leadership effectively.
• Expertise in advanced Excel functions and data analysis, with the ability to interpret large datasets.
