Role: Financial Controller

Location: Bristol, England (Hybrid)

Role Summary

The Financial Controller will play a key role in managing the overall Finance function, with a strong focus on supporting the project development business plan. Working alongside the Operations & Control Director, the successful candidate will oversee budgets, manage payments related to portfolio acquisitions, and establish robust finance policies for the UK operations.

The role reports to the Control and Operations Director and involves strategic input, liaising with senior leadership, and supporting scalable operations amid rapid growth. It offers meaningful prospects for professional development and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day financial management of holding and project companies
  • Manage financial operations: cash flow, invoicing, payments, and transactions
  • Accurate cash flow forecasting and reporting
  • Coordinate payments to contractors
  • Assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports (UK GAAP, IFRS)
  • Support financial analysis, plan validation, and ad-hoc requests
  • Maintain financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems
  • Ensure compliance with audit, tax (VAT, corporation tax), and regulatory standards
  • Oversee annual audit and budget processes
  • Collaborate with project teams on devex and capex control
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic decisions
  • Fulfill lender reporting obligations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting
  • Recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA)
  • Experience in construction or renewable energy industries preferred
  • Familiarity with IFRS accounting
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Confidence working with senior-level stakeholders
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience with financial software (Xero, Sage, SAP, Lucanet) beneficial
