Job summary

A leading transportation organization in Manchester seeks a candidate to enhance their shared services control framework. Responsibilities include supporting compliance to policies, driving process improvement, and delivering analytical reports with Power BI. Candidates should have prior experience in accounts management, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and familiarity with Oracle eBusiness Suite. Overview

Our Shared Services team deliver specialist processes that have a direct impact on the performance of Network Rail, our customers and suppliers. These services include payroll, recruitment and onboarding, payables, receivables, financial accounting, reporting, and helpdesk support. Within the Control & Process Framework team, we support shared services to maintain a robust control framework, risk management, and governance processes, and improve processes and controls whilst managing our risk profile.

Responsibilities
  • Support our Golden Threads across shared services with emphasis on AP and AR teams to drive and support adherence to our control framework
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure sound decisions and long-term enhancements to processes and controls
  • Support financial process reviews across the business to identify and implement control improvement
  • Own and implement validation & testing schedules for standard operating procedures and controls
  • Mitigate all known risks, and work with shared service colleagues to understand root cause and develop mitigation plans
  • Support continuous improvement across the control framework, driving efficiency through automation, digital tools, and process optimisation
  • Work collaboratively with shared services teams to ensure compliance to policy and regulations including GDPR and HMRC / tax regulations and share knowledge and understanding
  • Build knowledge and understanding within the teams of the processes undertaken and support the shared services teams to ensure each process is documented and kept updated in line with current practice
  • Deliver accurate, timely reporting using Power BI and other tools to provide insightful analysis in support of strategy and planning within shared services
  • Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders including shared services teams, internal audit and National Audit Office
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience of managing improvement projects
  • Exceptional customer focus, engagement and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven influencing, networking and stakeholder management skills at senior management level
  • Experience working at a similar level within a Shared Services environment
  • Excellent communication skills; knowledge of universal COSO guidelines to evaluate internal controls, risk management and fraud
  • Oracle eBusiness Suite experience
  • Studying for AAT/ACCA qualifications
  • Embrace using Artificial Intelligence
