We have a great opportunity for a Financial Controller to join our Finance Team. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Edinburgh.

About the Role

This role will be responsible for ensuring key financial and regulatory reporting deliverables are produced to a high standard and on a timely basis. This extends to ensuring that a robust control environment and clear process documentation exists to validate financial data, support key financial outcomes, and support cross-training initiatives.

  1. Month-end reporting – Collation and input of month-end journals, as well as timely and well-understood financial analytics to provide insight and support business decision-making. This includes working collaboratively across the finance function and beyond to understand key inputs and trends within the financial results.
  2. Quarter-end reporting – Plan and implement all board, regulatory, and group reporting outputs where required, including succinct analytics for presentation to senior business leaders. Manage expectations of senior leaders regarding the delivery of key reporting outputs.
  3. Year-end reporting – Support and deliver timely inputs to the group reporting process, as well as plan and implement statutory reporting outputs. Coordinate the delivery of information to auditors.
  4. Projects – Support and lead on team and group-wide projects to support the strategic direction of the finance function.
  5. Technical resolution – Interpret key accounting and regulatory technical matters for presentation and agreement with the UK Financial Reporting & Controls Manager.
  6. Processes & control – Prepare and maintain key process documentation for reporting processes and ensure robust controls are in place to support key reporting outcomes. This includes reporting reconciliations and continuous process improvement to deliver efficiencies and value across the finance function.
  7. Engagement – Collaborate with peers across the finance function and wider business areas to deliver business insight and contribute to a best-in-class finance function.
  8. Learning & development – Take responsibility for developing technical and soft skills to ensure continuous personal growth and to add value across the finance function.
Candidate Requirements
  • Ideally a qualified accountant or qualified by experience.
  • Asset management experience is preferable but not essential.
  • Technical and regulatory knowledge is desirable.
  • Take personal accountability for high-quality outputs and timely delivery.
  • Self-starter willing to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to challenge trends and set expectations.
  • Credibility with stakeholders, including strong communication and confidence.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, inspiring, sharing, and listening to ideas.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and manage expectations.
  • Problem solver willing to challenge and deliver value-added outcomes.
  • Strong IT and analytical skills (Word, Excel, systems experience preferable).
