About the Team and the Role
Following the internal promotion of the existing postholder, Warwickshire County Council (WCC) is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Team Lead for Financial Assessments and Benefits Advice to lead our dynamic team.
WCC currently serves approximately 6,000 Adult Social Care customers, with numbers expected to grow. We utilize Mosaic for care information, interfacing with Abacus to generate charges, and are piloting Better Care Finance for self-service assessments.
This is an exciting time as we embrace technology to enhance our services and meet increasing demand. The role is part of the wider Transformation and Transaction Finance Management Team, contributing to strategic decisions aligned with the Council's priorities.
Reporting to the Exchequer and BAIC Service Manager, the successful candidate will lead a team of 11 FTEs in delivering financial assessments. Experience managing a team of similar size, working in customer-focused environments, and handling sensitive customer interactions with patience and compliance are essential.
You should have the ability to interpret legislation and financial policies related to this role, with experience in complex financial and benefits assessments, and knowledge of statutory requirements including benefit legislation and the Care Act 2014.
Responsibilities include investigating disputes, responding to appeals and complaints, service improvement, and training. Candidates must work independently, prioritize tasks, and build relationships across services and organizations.
The role offers flexible working, with some presence required at our Bedworth or Warwick offices based on team needs.
