Financial and Strategic Advisory Assistant Manager

We are searching for an experienced Financial and Strategic Advisory Assistant Manager.

Overall job purpose

You will be a key member of the growing financial accounting and advisory services team. You will be responsible for working on a broad range of technical accounting, financial reporting, and business advisory assignments. As an assistant manager, you are expected to complete technically challenging projects, including the application of accounting standards under FRS102, IFRS, and FRS 101, group reconstructions, accounting considerations, conversions to different GAAP, technical accounting papers, and acquisition accounting support. The role also includes the preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS and FRS 101.

A strong understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS accounting principles is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Leading accountancy advisory projects for clients, such as group reconstructions, IFRS transition consultancy, reporting on specific contracts or transactions, support on acquisition accounting, and complex consolidations.
  • Acting as the main contact with clients, communicating issues to the assignment manager or partner, and proposing solutions.
  • Practicing excellent client service principles, involving significant client contact.
  • Liaising with other departments, especially audit and corporate tax teams.
  • Ensuring deadlines are met and issues are resolved promptly.
  • Coaching junior team members and participating in staff training and supervision.
  • Possibility of line management of junior staff depending on experience.
  • Developing and maintaining advanced technical knowledge through reading, courses, and challenging assignments.
  • Willingness to travel to client premises; most work is office-based.
  • Assisting compliance teams in preparing statutory accounts under IFRS, FRS 101, and FRS 102.

Personal and professional qualities

The role requires:

  • Qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • A positive, proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and progress.
  • Passion for financial reporting under IFRS and UK GAAP, with practical experience in complex situations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Teamwork skills, able to work with all levels from partners to junior staff.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver results as a self-starter.
  • Experience managing multiple clients simultaneously.
  • Experience supervising and coaching junior staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
