Job description

PSE Consulting is one of Europe’s leading payments consulting firms. Established in London in 1991, PSE is widely recognised across the payments industry for its high-quality expertise. We work for many of the world’s most innovative retailers and payments firms in the UK, Europe, the Americas and Australasia.

We are looking for a highly competent Financial Analyst who will join the company at the level of Consultant. Shortlisted candidates are likely to have an accountancy qualification or finance credentials and have three years or more experience in working with card scheme (Visa and Mastercard) data, either at one of the schemes, at a bank or an acquirer. They will also need the ability to communicate their findings and analysis on slides so must be able to offer both Excel and PowerPoint at an advanced level, and expect to be tested in these skills. Key to success will be scrupulous attention to detail and a methodical working style.

The Financial Analyst is anticipated to require 37.5 hours a week (full time), based principally in the PSE offices in Borough (SE1). The role will entail working within PSE’s consulting teams in delivery of client assignments. Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of a key resource used across a range of projects
  • Creating and updating financial models and data analysis
  • Researching and collating market information and data
  • Creating and delivering client presentations
  • Project co-ordination
  • Carrying out consumer/merchant market research

The company is engaged in a wide range of projects for our blue-chip client base. These vary enormously so there is always something new of interest for the team to get to grips with. The firm comprises a friendly small team with the opportunity to develop your own niche.

Applicants must have:

  • A finance or accountancy qualification or significant experience in activities such as costs audits, business case construction, pricing and profitability analyses
  • Good first-hand knowledge and experience of card payments economics and in particular card scheme fees
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • Strong academic achievements
  • Robust Excel skills and confidence with a high level of analytical work, data and charting
  • Strong skills in other Microsoft applications, particularly PowerPoint
  • Ability to understand and communicate findings of analysis and research succinctly, both orally and in writing
  • Willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks
  • Problem solving and planning skills
  • Fluent and accurate written English and oral communication ability
  • At least five years’ business experience

We are offering an indicative full-time salary of £55,000 to £70,000 plus bonus, depending on experience, with the opportunity to accelerate rapidly.
