Job summary

Fabric Recruitment Ltd. in Burton on Trent is seeking a technically strong Financial Accountant to join the central finance team and manage financial accounting and reporting activities.

You will support budgeting, month-end close, financial controls, statutory reporting and liaise with auditors, while developing commercial insight across the business.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with at least two years of post-qualification experience.
• Working knowledge of UK VAT and tax-related accounting requirements.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and an understanding of internal financial controls.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems and data.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial accounting and control activities across designated cost centres, including fixed and variable costs.
• Support the preparation of annual budgets, management plans and financial forecasts.
• Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across the business, providing financial support and guidance.
• Complete month-end accounting and balance sheet reconciliations for designated areas.
• Oversee the accounting and control of central costs and interdepartmental recharges.
• Support monthly group reporting and the preparation of annual statutory accounts.
• Prepare relevant financial information to support tax and VAT reporting requirements.
• Liaise with external auditors and assist with audit requests.
• Maintain robust financial controls and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems and reporting.
• Undertake ad hoc financial projects and other duties as required.]

We are working with an established business to recruit a technically strong and commercially aware Financial Accountant to join its central finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to take responsibility for key financial accounting and reporting activities, support the wider business with financial insight, and contribute to ongoing improvements in financial controls and processes.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical accounting background, excellent Excel skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Experience using SAP would be a significant advantage, although training can be provided.
