Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage financial ledgers and tax requirements in line with UK GAAP.
  • Lead month-end duties including accruals and prepayments.
  • Act as primary contact for external auditors during audits.
  • Prepare and finalise P & L, balance sheets, and cashflow statements.
  • Produce cashflow forecasts and analyse material movements.

Join our dynamic Finance team at CPI, where innovation meets impact. As a Financial Accountant, you’ll be at the heart of financial planning and decision-making, providing expert insights and robust accounting support. You’ll manage financial ledgers, ensure compliance with UK GAAP and Financial Reporting Standards, and contribute to the development of financial systems and policies.

This role offers the opportunity to lead month-end and year-end processes, engage with external auditors, and deliver high-quality financial reporting that supports strategic business decisions. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, helping to drive performance, maintain financial integrity, and support CPI’s mission to make a meaningful impact through innovation.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  1. Managing financial ledgers and tax requirements in line with UK GAAP.
  2. Leading month-end duties including accruals, prepayments, and intercompany recharges.
  3. Acting as the primary contact for external auditors during annual audits.
  4. Preparing and finalising P & L, balance sheets, and consolidated cashflow statements.
  5. Producing cashflow forecasts and analysing material movements.
  6. Supporting the year-end audit and R & D tax claim processes.
  7. Maintaining and improving financial controls and procedures.
  8. Communicating financial insights across a range of stakeholders.

The person we are seeking

It’s essential you have:

  • Degree-level education (or equivalent).
  • Qualified in Financial Accounting (e.g., ACCA / ACA).
  • Experience in financial accounting and audit practices.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial systems.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Experience working in industry or with grant funding.
  • A management qualification.
