Job description

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to work in Central London (3 days a week onsite, 2 days WFH) for a duration of 6 to 12 months.

This role is with an oil and gas company.

Role Description:

Purpose of the Role:

  • Responsible for statutory accounting and compliance for UK financial reporting.

Areas of Responsibility and Competence Level:

  • Management:
    • Oversee accounting and compliance obligations.
    • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
    • Provide accounting functional excellence, advisory, and governance across Harbour Energy locations.
    • Maintain and develop internal controls over financial reporting to ensure reliability and compliance with UK plc requirements.
  • Accounting Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, policies, procedures, and legal requirements regarding UK Statutory Accounts, Provisions, Dividends, Intercompany Transactions, Management Charges, IFRS2, Hedging, etc.
    • Support external statutory audits.
Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
  • University degree.
  • ACA professional accounting qualification.
  • Extensive experience in financial reporting within a multinational company or Big 4 firm, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with in-depth knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, and internal controls.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with auditors.
  • Exceptional management skills, including training, mentoring, and staff development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex financial information clearly.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Enthusiastic about challenging the status quo and pursuing continuous improvement.
