Job summary
Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is seeking a part-time Financial Accountant to provide financial expertise and support for decision-making across the organisation. Based near Leyburn with blended home and office working, you will join a small finance team and influence budgeting and reporting processes.
The role offers a pro rata salary up to £44,571, with a market supplement and a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications
- Experience in financial accounting and reporting.
- Ability to provide financial advice to managers and senior colleagues.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits.
- Willingness to work part-time (20-25 hours per week) with flexible pattern.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Section Heads to shape budgets and provide financial insight that supports effective decision-making.
- Monitor revenue and capital budgets, including in-year changes.
- Provide practical financial advice and training to non-financial managers.
- Produce clear, accurate reports and statutory returns.
- Lead internal audit and support external audit processes.
- Keep up to date with CIPFA guidance and relevant legislation.
- Support improvements to financial systems and processes.
- Line manage and support the development of a Finance Officer.
- Deputise for the Head of Finance when required.

We recognise that talented people are looking for flexibility. The role is offered on a part-time basis (20-25 hours per week), with the working pattern open to discussion and opportunities for blended home and office working.

- Basic salary: £37,280 to £41,771 pro rata per annum (pay award pending)
- Market rate supplement: £2,800 pro rata per annum, currently paid in addition to the basic salary
- Generous leave: starting at 26 days' annual leave, pro rata, plus bank holidays, increasing to 31 days after five years of Local Government service

Working alongside experienced and supportive colleagues who are committed to delivering a high-quality finance service across the Authority, you’ll play a key role in helping managers make informed financial decisions. You will:
