Job description

Terumo is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its General Accounting team within the Global Business Services (GBS) organization. Reporting to the Financial Accounting North Lead, this role supports high-quality accounting services across Europe and contributes to the Group’s Centre of Expertise in Accounting.

This role will specifically take ownership of theday to day accounting for the Terumo Aortic site in Glasgowand theTerumo UK sales site, with the potential to expand or change to other regions as GBS continues to grow. The Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of financial statements, while also ensuring compliance with all local statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.

As the scope of GBS evolves, responsibilities may shift, requiring the individual to beadaptable and resilient in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate isself-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality financial data and supporting continuous improvement in accounting processes.

The Key Responsibilities Of The Role Are;

  • Payroll accounting, including incentive accruals
  • Accrual – and deferral postings
  • Preparation and posting of month end closing journals
  • Take ownership of balance sheet reconciliation, maintaining the required evidence
  • Intercompany accounting and reconciliation
  • Preparation of local tax reporting (tax return and VAT reporting), in cooperation with Tax and VAT specialist.
  • Responsible for the set up of the local financial statements (following local GAAP and requirements, including filing)
  • Act as primary contact for the audits of local financial statements end group reporting financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable group accounting policies. Support the process in place to ensure this structurally happens
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations and requirements.
  • Regular communication with the business, FBP, commercial teams to develop a strong understanding of business activities and needs.
  • Identify areas for improvement, standardization and increasing of efficiency in the accounting process

The successful candidate will possess;

  • Master or bachelor’s degree in applied economics or Certified Accountant, or equivalent through experience.
  • Extended experience in accounting and reporting (minimum of 5 years experience in a major company or division of a large corporation);
  • Experienced in SAP, not essential as full training will be provided
  • IFRS knowledge or equivalent through experience
  • Knowledge of local GAAP and requirements
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work extended days on an occasional basis and travel if required
  • Able to work under high pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills expressed as the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the business, internally and externally
