Overview

We are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to work as a key member of the central Finance Department at Farnham, reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance (Financial Services).

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the financial transactions function including VAT reporting.
  • Maintenance of the University's Financial Regulations.
  • Preparation of the University's annual financial statements.
  • Managing three direct reports.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Prepared financial statements in accordance with FRS102 and experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Provide accounting technical and VAT guidance to stakeholders within the University.
  • Experience of working within a higher education environment is an advantage.
  • Proficient in computer-based accounting systems and Microsoft Office, with considerable experience in Excel including XLOOKUP and pivot tables.
  • Strong communication skills with stakeholders at all levels, using a variety of approaches.
  • Able to work under pressure to a high level of accuracy, collaborate with colleagues, and manage day-to-day workload with minimum supervision while using initiative.
  • Qualified accountant (e.g., ICAEW, ACCA) with two years post-qualification experience.
