Distinct Recruitment is seeking an Interim Financial Accountant for a fast-growing business in the North Nottingham/Derby area. The role is on-site three days per week with an early finish on Fridays and an initial 3-month contract, offering £55,000–£60,000.

The role combines strong technical accounting with business partnering, supporting budgeting, forecasting and commercial decision-making across the finance team.

Qualifications

• Statutory accounts and external audit
• VAT and tax reporting across UK and overseas entities
• Financial controls and balance sheet integrity
• CAPEX accounting and reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting and providing meaningful financial insight
• Working with stakeholders to improve the quality of financial information
• Identifying opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen controls and improve reporting
• Multi-entity or international experience would be useful

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts and coordinate external audit
• Manage VAT and tax reporting across UK and overseas entities
• Maintain robust financial controls and balance sheet integrity
• Oversee CAPEX accounting and reporting
• Support budgeting, forecasting and commercial decision-making
• Partner with stakeholders to improve financial information quality
• Identify process improvements to strengthen controls and reporting

I'm looking for a technically strong Financial Accountant to join a growing, fast-paced business on an interim basis.

There's a strong technical core to the role, but it's not just about statutory reporting and year-end. You'll also work closely with the wider finance team and business, using the numbers to support budgeting, forecasting, and better commercial decision-making.

The role will cover:

• Statutory accounts and external audit
• VAT and tax reporting across UK and overseas entities
• Financial controls and balance sheet integrity
• CAPEX accounting and reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting and providing meaningful financial insight
• Working with stakeholders to improve the quality of financial information
• Identifying opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen controls and improve reporting

Ideally ACA or ACCA qualified, you'll have a strong technical foundation but also enjoy looking beyond the numbers and understanding what they mean for the wider business.

Multi-entity or international experience would be particularly useful.
