Financial Accountant

Location: London

Contract: 12-month FTC (maternity cover) | Hybrid - 40% in-office

About the Role

This is a key position within a central finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Financial Accounts. You'll lead the Accounts Receivable function, line-manage an Assistant Accountant, and play a pivotal role in preparing monthly, interim and year-end accounts.

You'll be responsible for managing invoicing, cash forecasting, reconciliations, and trust account reporting, while ensuring strong financial governance and compliance with audit requirements. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant who thrives in a hands-on role and enjoys working across a broad range of finance activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Accounts Receivable function, including invoicing, cash management and reconciliations.
  • Line-manage and support an Assistant Accountant.
  • Prepare trust statements and year-end accounts for audit.
  • Support the Head of Financial Accounts on wider governance and finance policies.
  • Contribute to process improvements, fraud controls, and system enhancements.
About You
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA).
  • Proven experience preparing accounts and reconciliations for audit.
  • Strong Excel and financial systems knowledge (Agresso desirable).
  • Experience managing staff and delivering through others.
  • Ability to explain complex finance clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • Flexible and collaborative - able to support across both AR and AP when needed.
