A leading UK technology retailer is seeking a Financial Accountant. You will be responsible for key aspects of external financial reporting including the Annual and Interim Reports. The ideal candidate should have a degree and a recognised accountancy qualification, alongside excellent communication and organisational skills. Qualifications

Overview

Location: Currys London Campus at Waterloo. Employment type: Full Time • Permanent • Grade 4.

As Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in the external financial reporting across the Group. This will include the Interim and Annual Report, ensuring preparation and disclosure is to the highest quality. You will make recommendations on technical accounting matters such as implementation of new standards and disclosures, performing research and ensuring these are applied consistently across the Group. You will prepare relevant analysis of accounting issues for the Accounting and Control team and ensure the Group Accounting Manual is up to date. You will act as a Controller for certain Group companies, providing direction and oversight for month end processes, and managing the annual statutory reporting process.

Responsibilities
  • Key involvement in the Annual Report and Interim Report including:
  • Preparation of financial statement sections for the Annual Report and Interim report
  • Preparation of external audit deliverables and liaising with auditors on queries
  • Make recommendations on the implementation of new accounting standards and disclosures across the Group, obtaining input from the wider Accounting & Control areas
  • Maintain the Group accounting manual as the need arises and ensure that all policies are adhered to across the Group through proactive communication, training, and review
  • Participate in UK&I and Nordics balance sheet reviews for the purpose of Group statutory reporting and to challenge accounting treatment as appropriate
  • Act as a Controller for certain Group companies by taking responsibility for the accounting and reporting for these entries including design and implementation of month-end process and managing all aspects of the statutory accounts preparation process
  • Produce ad hoc reports and analysis for the Accounting and Control team on accounting matters and judgements
  • Assist in accounting for Group share based payments including maintaining and improving excel models, posting monthly journal entries and preparing variance analysis to budget/forecast
  • Continue to develop accounting knowledge through the use of third parties and independent research
