Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking an Exchequer and System Development Manager for an 18‑month fixed term contract. The role leads the transformation of transactional finance processes, developing modern financial systems and service improvements across the organisation.

You will work with Finance, ICT and other services to embed better ways of working, enhance data and system design, and support informed decision making for customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading finance transformation projects.
• Strong understanding of P2P and O2C processes.
• Proven ability to improve finance systems and controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Building Better Finance programme across finance and ICT.
• Drive process improvement in transactional finance and related systems.
• Embed new ways of working and ensure governance and compliance.
