Job description

Service Care Solutions are working alongside Lincolnshire County Council who are looking to recruit an experienced and professional Finance Technician to join their team on a temporary contract. Please find a description of the role below.

Role: Finance Technician
Rate: £13 to £16 per hour (PAYE exc.) / £16 to £17.72 per hour (umbrella/ltd)
Location: Lincoln
Contract: 3 months’ ongoing
Working hours: 37 hours per week. (Hybrid following 2-week training period)

Role Overview:

  • Main responsibilities include credit control, income collection, and adult care charges.
  • Assist in planning, monitoring, and reporting of revenue and capital budgets.
  • Advise on budget setting, pressures, monitoring, and outturn forecasts.
  • Support financial reporting and identify areas of financial risk.
  • Help develop systems to improve forecasting accuracy and financial control.
  • Identify and monitor the delivery of efficiency savings.
  • Evaluate value for money using local and national data.
  • Work with services to align resources with performance goals.
  • Support planning and monitoring of grant usage.
  • Assist in the closure of accounts and ensure accurate year-end adjustments.
  • Maintain accounts via virements, recharges, and journal entries.
  • Contribute to capital project planning, service reviews, and major developments.
  • Maintain general knowledge of financial regulations and best practices.
