Job summary

Legal & General Group in Cardiff is seeking a Finance Analyst to join our Group Finance team on a six-month fixed-term contract. You'll support accurate accounting, financial control and reporting activities across the business.

You'll prepare and post journals, complete reconciliations, and help maintain ledgers, working with stakeholders to improve financial processes and cost management. The role requires a graduate qualification or ongoing professional study (AAT/ACCA/CIMA) and strong

Qualifications

• Graduate qualification or active study towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA.

Job Description

We're looking for a Finance Analyst to join our Group Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your finance career in a collaborative environment, supporting accurate accounting, financial control and reporting activities.

You'll prepare and post daily and monthly accounting transactions, complete financial reconciliations and help maintain financial ledgers and trial balances. Working closely with colleagues and finance stakeholders, you'll contribute to effective cost management and the continuous improvement of financial processes.

Please note this is a six-month fixed-term contract role within an ideal start date of ASAP.

What you'll be doing:

• Preparing and posting daily and month-end journals to the Oracle accounting system in line with financial reporting timetables
• Completing financial reconciliations, investigating outstanding items and providing clear explanations for reconciling entries
• Calculating, preparing and posting third-party cross-charges across business divisions
• Processing journal requests and producing management information to support cost centre managers
• Analysing ledger postings, identifying trends and working with finance stakeholders to resolve queries
• Maintaining robust financial controls in line with Group standards, regulatory requirements and the risk and control framework
• Processing cashbook journals, credit notes and payment requests while supporting the clearance of outstanding items
• Supporting ledger maintenance, systems development, process improvements and wider project activity

Who we're looking for:

• A graduate qualification, active study towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA, or relevant practical experience
• A good understanding of accounting processes and principles
• Experience of working independently within a fast-paced and changing environment
• Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel skills, alongside confidence using Word, PowerPoint and Power BI
• The ability to analyse financial information accurately and communicate findings clearly
• A collaborative approach, with the confidence to work both as part of a team and on your own initiative
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
• Experience using finance systems such as GFAS, Web ADI, Hubble, SRT, Money In/Out or data-loading tools would be advantageous
