Job summary

East Lancashire Learning Group is seeking a Finance Team Leader for Accrington, with potential travel to other sites within the College Group. You will supervise the day-to-day finance team work, coordinate journals and month-end activities, and support budget holders to deliver accurate management information across the Group.

The role is permanent, 37 hours per week, with a salary up to £38,913 depending on experience and a pay award pending. Strong Excel and governance focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Five GCSEs including Maths and English at C/4 or above.
• AAT qualification or other relevant qualification such as HNC or CIPFA status.
• At least three years' experience developing, implementing and monitoring administrative or financial management systems.
• Experience supervising and motivating others.
• Experience working with a computerised accounting system and ensuring controls and procedures are followed.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills for data management and analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, planning and organisational skills.
• Proactive approach to improving services and processes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Finance team's workload, set priorities and ensure appropriate cover for key activities.
• Coordinate banking, journals, Direct Debits, payment runs and month-end ledger closure across three companies.
• Authorize journals and requisitions, ensuring accurate coding and appropriate supporting evidence.
• Support budget holders with management accounts, financial processes, advice and training.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns and reconcile VAT accounts.
• Develop meaningful financial reports and improve systems, controls and operational efficiency.
