Job Description

This is a permanent position based at the Oxford Road Campus of the University of Manchester. There is also a 12-month fixed-term post under reference PSX-028647 for the same role.

Are you ready to showcase your skills in finance systems and make a real impact? Join us as a Finance Systems Administrator to support critical operations, troubleshoot complex platforms (such as Oracle, Agresso, SAP, or similar), and contribute to system improvements.

This is a technical role focused on supporting and administering finance systems, not a clerical or secretarial position. You will support system users, maintain data accuracy, and be involved in system enhancements.

If you have experience with finance systems, enjoy problem-solving, and are confident working with complex platforms, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide user support and resolve finance system issues, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, monitoring, escalation, and ensuring compliance with SLAs.
  • Maintain strong IT, Excel, and analytical skills, demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service and maintain good working relationships.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting, data extracts, and periodic reports to support business needs.
  • Perform system maintenance, configuration, reconciliation, period/year-end processes, and access management.
  • Support system testing activities, including planning, coordinating testers, managing test scripts, liaising with IT and business teams, and defect management.
  • Assist with finance systems projects, governance groups, and documentation updates.
About Finance Systems

The Finance Systems team manages the Oracle Financials application and other finance/reporting packages. Responsibilities include user support, month-end processes, issue resolution, report development, control and reconciliation, and continuous improvement.

The Team

The Directorate of Finance employs around 240 staff across various teams. The Finance Systems team is a small group of 5-10 members working closely with other finance functions to deliver modern solutions.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Generous annual leave (23-27 days) plus additional closure days during Christmas.
  • Employee assistance programs supporting health, financial, and legal needs.
  • Pensions, travel loans, cycle schemes, nursery, discounts, and professional development opportunities.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements may be considered.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. All appointments are based on merit. For more information about working at the University of Manchester, visit our website.

Enquiries should be directed to emailprotected. Recruitment agency submissions will be considered a gift and will not be responded to.

Application deadline is midnight on the closing date. Further details and person specifications can be found in the attached document.
