Job summary

develop in Nottingham is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to own end-to-end engineering delivery for a brand-new Finance SaaS platform, reporting to the C-suite. This leadership role drives the technical strategy, people leadership, and delivery excellence from the UK site.

You will lead ~15 engineers initially, with plans to scale, ensuring feature delivery while maintaining BAU stability and strong security, performance, and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams at scale in a SaaS environment.
• Strong technical background credible at an architecture and delivery level.
• Experience scaling complex platforms, ideally in finance, ERP, or regulated domains.
• Commercial mindset: understands engineering impact on revenue and market competitiveness.
• Confident stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end engineering delivery for a Finance SaaS product.
• Lead a team of engineers initially ~15, with growth plans.
• Balance new features with BAU stability.
• Partner with Product, Design, Finance, and Exec stakeholders.
• Drive security, performance, reliability, and compliance; introduce modern practices including AI-enabled development.
