Position: Full time or part time – permanent
In this role you’ll be writing about a huge, vitally important, highly political and high-profile sector, which includes FTSE giants such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s and M&S, multinational FMCG powerhouses including Coca-Cola, Nestle and Heineken, but also many small entrepreneurial businesses on both the retail and supplier side. So there are stories a-plenty!
The ideal candidate is an experienced reporter with a proven track record in breaking news, and an understanding of/interest in the mechanics of the City, ie M&A, financial performance, share prices, pay & remuneration and the economy.
You will need to combine ambition and a strong work ethic, with the curiosity to unearth and analyse important information about the financial triumphs and tribulations of the market.
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll be working on a large, award-winning team, reporting into the finance editor, with responsibility for writing on-diary and off-diary news, analysis and insight, as well as blogs, features, profiles and potentially audio/video content.
You’ll be expected to source, develop and nurture top-level contacts, attend key events, such as results presentations, capital markets days and conferences, and represent The Grocer to showcase your expertise via media appearances.

What you’ll need:
Location: Hybrid – a minimum of two days per week in our London and/or Gatwick offices. For commuting to the Gatwick office, we have a minibus service which provides convenient transportation to and from the nearest station (Three Bridges) at the start and end of each day.
