Job description

As a Finance Regulatory Policy – Capital VP, you will be a member of the Policy team, leading analysis and providing technical advice on applying regulatory requirements across the Barclays Group. The role involves working closely with advisory leads for Traded and Non-Traded Risk and serving as the primary lead for UK and EU capital interpretations within the regulatory framework. You will be a subject matter expert on Capital Regulations, especially Prudential Regulations.

The ideal candidate will have an open-minded approach to developing solutions for regulatory issues, referencing prudential sources. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will interact with senior stakeholders across the business, alongside excellent problem-solving abilities.

You may be assessed on critical skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and technical expertise relevant to the role.

Purpose of the role

To develop and analyze the bank's financial and regulatory policies and interpretations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, standards, and regulations, to effectively manage financial risks.

Accountabilities
  • Developing and assessing financial policies, standards, and controls that govern statutory and regulatory reporting, analyzing financial data and industry trends for policy improvements.
  • Managing the implementation of these policies across departments and supporting staff in interpretation and application.
  • Reviewing evolving laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the bank’s operations, financial performance, and risk profile.
  • Communicating policies clearly to stakeholders and delivering training to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Engaging with regulatory authorities to stay informed about upcoming changes, participating in consultations, and providing feedback on proposed regulations.
