Sammons Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Finance Officer for a busy accounts payable team in Chandler's Ford. The role focuses on purchase ledger tasks and ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time.

You will process invoices, match to PO, handle supplier queries, and run weekly payments, contributing to robust supplier relationships and tight controls.

The role is full-time, temporary for 6 months with potential extension, paying £14 per hour.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Process and register supplier invoices accurately and on time.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and investigate discrepancies.
• Handle supplier queries via phone and email.
• Validate invoices and secure approvals before payment.
• Prepare and process weekly supplier payment runs.
• Maintain supplier accounts and statements reconciliations.
• Set up new supplier accounts and perform checks to reduce fraud.
• Obtain and process credit notes when required.
• Manage ad-hoc payments and refunds within deadlines.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support ledger performance improvements.
• Ensure invoices and documents are stored correctly.

We are looking for a Finance Officer to join an established finance team, supporting the smooth running of accounts payable and ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time.

Salary: £14 p/h

Key Responsibilities

• Processing and registering supplier invoices accurately and within agreed timescales
• Matching invoices against authorised purchase orders and investigating discrepancies
• Managing supplier queries professionally via telephone and email
• Validating invoices and ensuring appropriate approvals are in place before payment
• Preparing and processing weekly supplier payment runs
• Maintaining accurate supplier accounts and completing regular statement reconciliations
• Setting up new supplier accounts and carrying out appropriate checks to reduce fraud risks
• Obtaining and processing credit notes where required
• Managing ad-hoc payments and processing refunds within required deadlines
• Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting purchase ledger performance improvements
• Ensuring invoices and supporting documentation are correctly recorded and stored

Skills and Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience within a finance or accounts environment
• Previous purchase ledger or accounts payable experience
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Experience working with high volumes of financial transactions
• Good communication skills and a professional approach to supplier queries
• Microsoft Excel skillsStrong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
