Finance Officer part-qualified

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Finance Officer is an essential part of the finance team, responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate accounting function for the Charity.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Purchase ledger duties, managing the purchase order system, processing invoices and expenses, and preparing payments and supplier reconciliations, while dealing with supplier queries.
- Recording petty cash transactions.
- Processing credit card transactions, updating the ledger, and performing monthly reconciliations.
- Monthly reconciliation of Accounts Receivables and chasing outstanding payments.
- Updating cashbook and nominal ledger with payments and receipts.
- Collaborating with the Finance Manager to complete monthly bank reconciliations for review by the Financial Controller (FC) / Finance Director (FD).
- Monthly reconciliation of intercompany accounts.
- Preparing quarterly VAT returns for review by FC/FD.
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts as directed by FD/FC.
- Ensuring all filing is done in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assisting with month-end journals and the preparation of management accounts and board packs.
- Providing support to the Finance Manager and Financial Controller.
- Supporting/covering SmartGiving daily consolidations, charity payment runs, bank transfers, and other finance-related tasks.
- Performing ad hoc tasks as requested by the Finance FD/FC.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Part or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACMA, ACCA).
- Experience with Xero accounting software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with good interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and attention to detail.
- Previous experience working within a charity is preferred.
