Finance Officer

Rochdale | 37 hours per week | £30,000 – £34,000 per annum

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business in Rochdale as a Finance Officer, taking ownership of the day-to-day accounts function and making a real impact within the team.

The Role As Finance Officer, you’ll be responsible for the full range of transactional and reporting activities, from ledgers and reconciliations through to VAT returns, payroll support, and cash flow management. You’ll be a key point of contact for both internal teams and external partners, helping to keep everything running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accounts up to trial balance and support month-end reporting
  • Manage purchase and sales ledgers, including debtors, creditors, and credit control
  • Submit VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements
  • Provide key payroll information to support payroll processing
  • Carry out daily and monthly bank reconciliations and oversee cash flow
  • Handle domestic and international banking transactions
  • Deal with payment queries and liaise with colleagues, customers, and suppliers
  • Maintain personnel files and manage import/export logs
  • Provide support and financial information to other departments
About You

We’re looking for someone with strong accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You’ll be confident working independently while also being a supportive team player.

Essential skills and experience:
  • Proven experience in a similar finance or accounting role
  • Proficiency with Sage Professional 200 (experience with 123 Insight MRP desirable but not essential)
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and time-management skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders
