As a Finance Manager - Systems and Controls you will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing the finance systems that underpin the company's financial operations.

This fixed-term position focuses on ensuring accurate financial data flow between operations and finance teams, maintaining key systems such as Mercur (Budgeting and Reporting System) and TEFA (Timesheet System), and supervising the finance assistant responsible for timesheet and project cost allocations.

You will work closely with the FP&A team and senior finance leadership to deliver reliable management accounts and support the preparation for a future ERP implementation.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine technical systems expertise with strong finance knowledge, acting as a vital bridge between finance and technology teams to drive operational efficiency and financial accuracy within a collaborative and supportive setting.

What you'll be doing

  • Take ownership of finance systems and controls, ensuring accurate integration and reconciliation between engineering input systems and the main ERP for reliable management accounts.
  • Manage the flow of financial data from the operations community into reporting tools, verifying revenue, costs, and work-in-progress figures to support accurate billing and project accounting.
  • Supervise the finance assistant responsible for maintaining timesheet systems, ensuring correct project coding, timesheet approvals, and timely billing to clients.
  • Collaborate closely with the FP&A team to support management reporting and provide financial insights to directors and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation and alignment of trial balances between reporting systems and the ERP to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial statements.
  • Support the upcoming ERP implementation by contributing to requirement gathering and system design alongside the finance and IT teams.
  • Maintain and improve financial controls and processes related to systems, ensuring compliance with revenue recognition and accounting standards.
What you'll need
  • Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, or CIMA certification, or equivalent experience, with strong operational finance and systems expertise.
  • Hands-on experience with financial systems, ideally with exposure to ERP platforms such as E1, Oracle Fusion, or similar, and familiarity with management reporting tools like Mercur is highly desirable
  • Experience working with timesheet and project costing systems, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and billing processes.
  • Comfortable partnering closely with FP&A teams, senior leadership, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable financial data and support strategic decision-making.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment, acting as a bridge between finance and technical teams to ensure accurate financial data flow and reporting.
  • Flexible approach to working, with an expectation to be in the office at least three days per week to support team collaboration.
