Job summary

Kier is seeking a Finance Manager to join the Sizewell C project and deliver robust financial oversight and business partnering for the delivery team. The role is primarily site-based at Sizewell C with some flexible home working as business needs allow.

You will interact with central finance, payroll, procurement and support functions to ensure accurate accounts and clear financial insight for decision-making. Experience in construction or infrastructure projects is valued.

Qualifications

• Professional finance qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or ACA, or equivalent.
• Experience producing management accounts, forecasts and financial analysis in a project, operational or commercial environment.
• Strong Excel and financial modelling capability.

Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts, MI and P&L summaries.
• Maintain control of project balance sheet areas including WIP and debtors.

Kier is looking for a Finance Manager to join our growing Nuclear & Energy business unit and play a key role in the successful delivery of Sizewell C. As the business targets significant growth over the next three years, including revenues of more than £300m by 2030, Sizewell C will be central to that ambition, supported by more than £30bn of investment over the next 15 years. Following Kier’s recent award of over £80m of infrastructure and civil engineering works at Sizewell, this role will provide day-to-day finance business partnering to the delivery team, ensuring robust financial oversight, accurate accounts and clear insight to support effective decision-making.

The role will be primarily site-based at Sizewell C, with flexibility for some home working where business needs allow. It is a visible finance business partnering role, acting as the main finance contact for the project and working closely with central finance, payroll, procurement, accounts payable and wider support functions.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities

Financial control and reporting

• Lead day-to-day finance business partnering for the project, supporting the delivery team with clear financial insight and challenge.
• Produce accurate monthly management accounts, MI and profit and loss summaries in line with Kier policies and financial reporting standards.
• Maintain control of project balance sheet areas, including WIP, debtors, GRNI and ledger reconciliations.

Cashflow and forecasting

• Prepare the weekly 13-week cashflow forecast, working with the commercial team to identify risks, opportunities and actions to optimise cash performance.
• Attend regular cashflow reviews, explain key movements and highlight one-off items or emerging liquidity risks.
• Produce quarterly forecast submissions for cash and profit and loss, working closely with commercial and operational teams.

Commercial finance support

• Control salary recharges, staff cost under or over recoveries and the allocation of costs between project contracts.
• Perform regular cost reviews and audits to support recovery of costs in line with contractual requirements.
• Identify and explain one-off items in monthly and quarterly reporting, including the impact on the balance sheet.

Governance, audit and stakeholder engagement

• Support working day three and working day five reviews, providing variance analysis and highlighting significant deviations at the earliest opportunity.
• Support Kier internal and external audits by providing timely information and maintaining clear supporting records.
• Create and communicate the financial calendar to relevant stakeholders across the project.
• Support the Nuclear Finance Director with ad hoc analysis, reporting and project finance requirements as needed.

• Professional finance qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or ACA, or equivalent relevant finance experience.
• Experience producing management accounts, forecasts and financial analysis in a project, operational or commercial environment.
• Strong Excel and financial modelling capability, with the ability to analyse financial data and improve reporting and forecasting processes.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with finance, commercial, operational and central support teams.
• Confidence to analyse issues, develop practical solutions and support implementation.

• Experience in construction, infrastructure, nuclear, energy or another project-based environment.
• Experience of cost recovery, contract reporting, CVRs, WIP, debtors, GRNI or similar project finance controls.
• Experience improving reporting processes, models or financial controls.
